Abstract: Dry seeds of ten cotton varieties were carried by the Shijian-8 satellite for space mutation treatment. The SP1 and SP2 offspring of cotton varieties were used to screen mutants and analyze DNA molecular polymorphism and investigate the agronomic traits. The aim was to study sensitivity of cotton varieties under space mutation. The results showed that seven susceptive varieties were confirmed and expressed high polymorphism and changed significantly on the agronomic traits. These results indicated that the outer space mutation would be an effective method to develop new cotton varieties.
