Abstract:The dynamic contents of condensed tannin in four kinds of naturally colored cotton fiber by Vanillin-method and the contents of the pigment in matured cotton fiber were determined in contrast with one conventional white cotton,Simian 3. The results indicated the mean content of the condensed tannin in the fiber of the naturally colored cotton were 4.35 times than that of the conventional white cotton, and the contents of the pigment in mature cotton fiber had a positive correlation with the mean contents of the condensed tannin. The dynamic contents of condensed tannin in seed coats of the five cotton cultivars were analyzed. The analyzing results showed the mean content of the condensed tannin in the seed coats of the naturally colored cotton was 1.44 times than that of the conventional white cotton. The more the pigment contents in the mature cotton fiber, the more the content of condensed tannin in the cotton seed coats among the naturally colored cotton varieties. The pigment contents in the mature cotton fiber had significant correlation with the contents of condensed tannin in colored cotton fiber during 20-25 DPA and the mean contents of the condensed tannin(p<0.01).
