Analysis of Cotton Natural Potential Productivity in Henan Province Based on GIS

Abstract:The potential cotton natural productivity of Henan was studied with the support of geographic information system (GIS) and agricultural database including spatial databases and attribute databases. Using the mechanism methodology and relative computing models,potential cotton productivity was computed according to the factors such as radiation,temperature,precipitation,and soil in county lovel. The models used in this article were as follows:the solar potential productivity computing model was the model of Huang bing-wei and Yu lu-ning. Hou guang-liang's model was used to compute solar and temperature potential productivity and it was revised by climate coefficient. The soil potential productivity was the climate productivity revised by soil coefficient. The characteristics of numeric value disperse and spatial distribution of potential productivity in Henan were analyzed through classification statistics and classification maping. It showed that 38.7% counties' solar potential productivity was in 8130~8950kg·hm-2,lying in south part of Henan province,the north part's productivity was high,in 9200~9950kg·hm-2. The distribution of solar and temperature potential productivity was that 12% counties west part of Henan province were in 4020~5920kg·hm-2;56.8% counties in north part were in 5630~6220 kg·hm-2;and other counties were in 5290~5630kg·hm-2. The climate potential productivity was between 650kg·hm-2 and 5300kg·hm-2,the distribution was irregula. Soil potential productivity was in 160~3920kg·hm-2,the distribution was similar to climate potential productivity. It was important for exploiting nature resourses and guiding agricultural production.
