Appraisal of Earliness Breeding Achievements in Short Season Upland Cotton in China

Abstract: Through compared the first harvest cotton index and growth and the vegetative period and the reproductive period and so on, we sum up the earliness breeding achievements of short season upland cotton in China. Analyzed the genotype value of the different short season upland cotton variety, the results indicated that the short season cotton growth reduces 9 to 14 days, the varieties in different decades meanly reduced for 2.5 days. The many other earliness traits were compared too. The different breeding strategies were analyzed in the CCRI cotton variety series and the Liao cotton variety series.
